BSCA “Coach of the Day” Continues at Next Gen Championships with New Sponsor
As we draw closer to a focus of the Swimming year for many developing swimmers, the newly named The Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships (formerly the British Summer Championships) held from July 19-25, 2025, at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield, is coming ever closer.
After the success of the ‘Coach of the Day’ Award (COTD) at the 2024 GB Summer Champs and the GB Champs in April 2025 (when sponsored by Arena), the Award has taken a step forward by being formally recognised by Aquatics GB, incorporated into the event and now also being backed by the event sponsor “Speedo”.
The Speedo BSCA Coach of the Day Award is a daily recognition of outstanding coaching at the Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships. Coaches are nominated each day & the winners are announced the day after their nominated performance and their names and details are displayed in the event hall, published on the BSCA website and social media. Nominations are open from the start of the competition (19th July) until the final day, during respective Finals sessions.
BSCA Chair Glenn Smith stated, “The Coach of the Day Award has been a great success in raising the profile of the role coaches play in the success enjoyed by swimmers. Doing this as a formal partnership with both Aquatics GB & event sponsor Speedo, will only raise this recognition further. We look forward to working with all concerned in this important step for the COTD Award & the BSCA.”
Alan Lynn, Head of Aquatics GB Performance Coach Development said, “Coaches are a vital part of a swimmer’s journey to being the best version of themselves. Coaches too, work hard to be the best ‘they’ can be and recognising their achievement through this award is a great acknowledgement for them.”
Simon Rowe, Speedo SVP Global Sports Marketing commented, “Speedo is extremely happy to support the BSCA Coach of the Day Award. The dedication of these coaches is inevitably important to the swimmers, not just as coaches, but as people who guide and inspire. They sacrifice their time, often behind the scenes, to push the swimmers forward and help them achieve their full potential. We are proud to recognise their invaluable contribution to the sport.
