Coach of the Day

Coach of the Day, sponsored by Speedo returned for the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships. 

The 2026 Aquatics GB Swimming Championships saw the return of an action packed six-day, fully-integrated para-swimming and swimming programme to the London Aquatics Centre across 14th-19th April.

The Speedo BSCA Coach of the Day Award is a daily recognition of outstanding coaching at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships. Coaches are nominated each day via the BSCA Website and announced the following morning before heats start & after warm up.

19/04/26 - Gary Humpage

The Coach of the Day for Day 6 is Gary Humpage, coach at the University of Birmingham Swim Team. This honour is recognition of the fantastic performances of Oliver Morgan in winning all three Male Backstroke events at the Aquatics GB 2026 Championships

18/04/26 - Nick Thompson

Nick Thompson (Manchester NPC) is awarded Coach of the Day for the performance of Poppy Maskell
from Manchester NPC in the Womens
100m Butterfly recording a 1.01.52 S14
World record (1052 Points).

17/04/26 - Ben Higson

Ben Higson (University of Stirling Swimming) wins Coach of the Day for the performance of Duncan Scott in winning the 200 IM in 1:56.08 and under the European Championship qualifying standard. Well done Ben!

16/04/26 - Bradley Hay

Bradley Hay (University of Stirling Swimming) is Coach of the Day for the performance of Angharad Evans in the Womens 200m Breaststroke, recording a British Record time of 2:19.70 [954 WA points] and smashing through the 2:20 barrier! A fantastic achievement!

15/04/26 - Karen Bradbury

Karen Bradbury from RTW Monson is Coach of the Day for the performance of Amelie Smith winning the Senior 400 IM Final whilst still a Junior in 4:35.46, achieving the Aquatics GB qualifying standard for the 2026 European Championships.

14/04/26 - Ryan Livingstone

Ryan Livingstone from Manchester Performance Centre is Coach of the Day in recognition of the tremendous swims by James Guy in 400 free, 3:44.04 (946 WA points) & Emily Richards achieving the qualifying standard in 200 fly 2:07.70.

About Coach of the Day

The Speedo BSCA Coach of the Day Award is a daily recognition of outstanding coaching at the Aquatics GB Championships. Coaches are nominated each day & the winners are announced the day after their nominated performance and their names and details are displayed in the event hall, published on the BSCA website and social media.

Nominations are open each day of the competition until the final day, during respective Finals sessions.

BSCA Chair Glenn Smith stated, “The Coach of the Day Award has been a great success in raising the profile of the role coaches play in the success enjoyed by swimmers. Doing this as a formal partnership with both Aquatics GB & event sponsor Speedo, will only raise this recognition further. We look forward to working with all concerned in this important step for the COTD Award & the BSCA.”
