We have an amazing opportunity for an inspiring coach and leader to join the highly successful Derby Excel Swimming Club as Director of Swimming. Formed in 2023 from the merger of City of Derby and Derventio Excel, we are proud to have developed seven athletes who have gone on to represent team GB at the last 5 Olympic Games. Our alumni include: Adam Peaty, Abbie Wood, Jacob Whittle and Mollie Renshaw. Derby Excel now has 435 members training in the superb £42m Moorways facility. We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with big ambitions and a warm, supportive culture.
Director of Swimming: – Derby Excel (Full-Time) Start: September 1st 2026
Location: Derby (Moorways Sports Village)
Salary: 45k – 50k per annum
Reporting to: Board of Trustees (CIO)

Lead both our community and performance programme, inspire excellence in others, and champion a culture where every swimmer can thrive. You’ll work with committed, caring colleagues and talented swimmers to elevate results across the programme, while embedding Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I), safeguarding, and our values of Commitment, Courage, Care in everything we do.
About You
Exceptional coach & leader with a track record of developing a successful club programme.
Passionate about DE&I, athlete welfare and holistic development.
Has a track record of developing swimmers that have been successful at National level.
Significant experience leading both performance pathway and club/community programmes.
Confident people leader, communicator and partner-builder.
