About the BSCA Hall of Fame
To be considered for a place in the BSCA Hall of Fame, coaches must meet the following criteria
Olympic Medal Coach
- The Coach in question shall be a British citizen and a UK passport holder.
- The Coach in question must have been coaching the individual event medal-winning Olympic athlete in Great Britain. The medal winning Olympic athlete may be of any nationality.
- The Coach in question must have been coaching the individual event medal-winning Olympic athlete from the completion of the Olympic Trials of that quadrennial and up to the Olympic event in which the athlete was to win the medal.
- In the event of ‘dual’ or ‘team’ coaching, the recognised Coach for this award shall be the one with whom the ultimate athlete responsibility and accountability rested. This will usually be the Coach who had the responsibility for the preparation and delivery of the majority of pool coaching sessions in the period of time outlined.
- Any person with a criminal conviction which is deemed to bring the sport of swimming and/or the BSCA into disrepute will not be honoured. The BSCA Executive Committee’s decision in such matters will be final.
Olympic Coach
- The Coach in question must be a British citizen and a UK passport holder.
- The Olympic athlete in question must be a British citizen and a UK passport holder.
- The Coach in question must have coached the Olympic athlete for 6 months or more leading into the Olympic Games. The Coach in question is essentially responsible for enabling the qualification/selection of the athlete onto the Great Britain Olympic Team.
- In the event of ‘dual’ or ‘team’ coaching, the recognised Coach for this award shall be the one with whom the ultimate athlete responsibility and accountability rested. This will usually be the Coach who had the responsibility for the preparation and delivery of the majority of pool coaching sessions in the period of time outlined above.
- Any person with a criminal conviction which is deemed to bring the sport of swimming and/or the BSCA into disrepute will not be honoured. The BSCA Executive Committee’s decision in such matters will be final.
