About Thame Swimming Club
Thame Swimming Club is a competitive and inclusive club with training bases in Thame, Aylesbury and Princes Risborough. Our professional coaching team supports swimmers of all abilities – from early fundamentals to national-level athletes – within a structured and progressive pathway.
Established in 2009, we are proud to have Olympian Simon Burnell as our Patron and to hold SwimMark Essential Club accreditation, recognising our commitment to quality, development, and athlete welfare.
Our mission is to develop and build participation in swimming while helping every member realise their full potential. We value teamwork, respect, dedication and enjoyment – both in and out of the pool.
The Role
The Head Coach will provide leadership, direction, and inspiration across all levels of the club. While taking a lead role with our top performance squad, they will also shape the club’s coaching strategy and foster excellence at every stage of the swimmer journey.
You will:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire our coaching team to deliver consistently high-quality sessions.
- Oversee a clear and ambitious swimmer development pathway from Fundamentals to Group 4.
- Build a performance culture rooted in enjoyment, effort, and achievement.
- Work collaboratively with the committee to develop and implement the club’s long-term coaching vision.
- Engage positively with swimmers, parents, volunteers, and the wider swimming community.
About You
You are a passionate, motivated coach who thrives on developing people. You understand how to create a fun yet competitive training environment and have a proven ability to motivate swimmers of all ages and abilities.
You bring energy, communication skills, and a genuine love for swimming that inspires others to reach their potential.
Qualifications:
- Swim England Swimming Coach (Level 2) qualification or equivalent.
- Consideration given to applicants with a confirmed place on a Swim England Swimming Coach course.
